Play-Well TEKnologies

Santa Rosa

Play-Well TEKnologies runs LEGO-based engineering camps where kids build stuff while actually learning physics and engineering concepts. The themes (Minecraft, Star Wars, vehicles, etc.) keep it fun, but there’s real STEM learning happening.

How It Works

Kids build projects with LEGO that demonstrate:

  • Engineering principles (bridges, structures)
  • Physics concepts (gears, motors, motion)
  • Problem-solving (make it work!)
  • Spatial reasoning
  • Teamwork

Camp Themes

Themes vary by session - past examples:

  • Minecraft Engineering
  • Star Wars Engineering
  • Machines and Vehicles
  • Architecture
  • Gaming themes

Locations

Play-Well runs camps at various locations throughout Sonoma County - schools, community centers, parks. Check their schedule for current locations near you.

Age Groups

Camps are split by age/grade:

  • Younger kids (K-2): Simpler concepts, more play
  • Older kids (3-5): More complex builds
  • Even older (6-8): Advanced engineering

Format Options

  • Half-day camps (morning or afternoon)
  • Full-day camps
  • Week-long sessions

Why Kids Love It

It’s LEGO. Kids who already love LEGO get to do MORE LEGO in a structured way, and come home having built something cool while learning why it works.

How to Find Camps

The schedule changes seasonally. Check schedule.play-well.org for current Sonoma County offerings and locations.
