Goat Rock Beach at the mouth of the Russian River hosts Sonoma County’s largest harbor seal colony, with peak viewing during spring pupping season.

Seal Watch Program

During pupping season, Stewards Seal Watch volunteers are present:

  • Hours: 10am-6pm daily
  • Education about seal behavior
  • Viewing guidance

Important

  • Keep distance from seals (stay at least 50 feet away)
  • Never approach mothers with pups
  • Disturbance can cause abandonment
