How We Work

We're a homeschooling family of five in Santa Rosa. We built this guide because we wanted one honest place to find what's happening for Sonoma County kids. These are the rules we follow so you can trust it.

Nobody pays to rank

What we recommend, and the order regular listings appear in, is our call alone. Businesses can pay for a labeled Featured spot or a sponsored story, but that never changes what we write or where regular listings sit.

Anything paid is labeled

Paid placements say "Featured" or "Sponsored" right on them, on the site and in our email. Our weekly email has at most one sponsor.

How we check what we list

  • Calendar: events are pulled every night from the Sonoma County Library calendar, and added by hand from Sonoma County Regional Parks and local organizers.
  • Directory: a listing shows when and how we last checked it (a visit, a call or the official source). Older listings are being re-checked one by one and stay out of search results until they are.
  • Our take: opinions in our voice only come from places our family has actually been.

What we list

  • Family events in Sonoma County are listed free when they cost $30 or less per person. Submit an event.
  • Camps, classes and series get a free listing too. A labeled Featured spot is optional. See options.
  • Plenty of family spots here also serve wine or beer. We list them when they're good for kids, but we never feature or promote alcohol.
